A single fuel cell consists of a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) and two flow-field plates delivering about 0.6 and 0.7V voltage (too low for most applications) and is configured with hydrogen and oxygen flow path. Just like batteries, individual cells are stacked and directly connected to achieve a higher voltage and power. This assembly of cells is called a fuel cell stack, or just a stack. Stack is composed with End Plate, gasket, fastening parts and valves.
